Glad to hear you made it through all of that scary stuff OK and that you're happy to have NHS. It's times like that when one is grateful to all those awful worldly people, nurses doctors lab techs scientists etc who worked and studied hard to make saving lives like yours and millions of others, possible.

Tag teams of Cart Sitters
by days of future passed inone sunday, we took our dad out for lunch.
since it didn't open till 12:00, we were going to have to kill time.
this restaurant is situated with other businesses around a small park and when we parked, we noticed there was a cart to the right in the park.

On Thursdays there are 2 carts and 4 people who stand outside our relatively quiet office building. All 4 people say nothing and are all 4 are undoubtedly counting time separately while being seen by the same few passersby.
It seems to me that when the society reports the hours spent in the ministry each year, in the interest of accuracy, they should divide the number in half or in this case by 4. This practice must be driving up the ratio of the hours spent compared to the amount of newly baptized ones coming in.

who would have policy in northern California without good fire insurance.WT is too savvy (their independent legal) to be that stupid.
You're right....I think I heard that there may be Watchtower held "group insurance" for the Kingdom Halls.
Other than for liability coverage, I think Fire is almost the main purpose for having commercial property insurance.

I want to clarify something I said in my OP when I said I hope the KH burns down. I meant that if hundreds of homes and businesses are on fire then I see no reason why the KH should be spared.
If the Hall hadn't burned the JW's would have spun it as proof that Jehovah's hand was involved and it was an "act of God" that spared them.
Thankfully l'm sure they had fire insurance but come to think of it there may not be coverage for this disaster because ironically forest fires may be considered an "act of God" as well

Blood Transfusion Permitted
by Nevuela ini just overheard an anointed acquaintance on the phone with a friend of hers who has just had surgery for cervical cancer.
among the snippets of dialogue i heard on my end of the line, these ones stood out:.
"you lost a lot of blood?
-
Pete Zahut
My father had only studied with the JW's when he died from not taking a blood transfusion. The attending nurse was a JW and said to us (the family) " Why is he doing this....he's not baptized ?? I certainly would'nt refuse blood if I wasn't a baptized Witness".
It seems that many JW's figure that God isn't interested in non JW's. They are exempt from obeying "Gods laws" because they're gonners at Armageddon anyway.
JW's are willing to use the blood fractions of non JW's who donated their blood even though they view donating blood as a sin.

Why Do JW Speakers and GB Members Sound So Robotic?
by minimus ineveryone sounds like they came out of stepford wives.
.
is this supposed to be the way witnesses are to speak?
-
Pete Zahut
The JW speaker is merely an instrument or vessel and no undue attention is to be drawn by him lest he detract from the glory of God and or even worse, outshine the Governing Body's speaking abilities.
Uninspired JW speakers become talking heads who speak the unoriginal and embarrassingly repetitive thoughts and words of other men whom they've never even met.

What Do You Think Will Be The Next Big Change In The Watchtower?
by minimus ini think there will be a change in the 144000 belief.
too many witnesses think they have a heavenly hope.
maybe 1914 will be discarded too.. what is your watchtower prediction?

Just a guess but I'm waiting to hear that for "simplification purposes" and because of the need to dedicate more time to the "ingathering work", they've lovingly disbanded the Liaison Committee. The real reason of course would not be because of "new light" but would be because of the possible legal responsibilities they could have to answer for by having such a committee in place as part of the systematic process that the organization uses to lean heavily on JW's to influence them to refuse blood transfusions.
If that happened, they could save face by simply not talking about the blood issue anymore and people would be left on their own to decide where they stand on the matter.
